My mum taught me how to draw when I was little. She's a beautiful botanical artist and I remember telling her in frustration that I'd never be able to do it. Now, my happiest and most peaceful place is drawing at my easel in my studio apartment in the city. Although sometimes it's less of an apartment and more of a greenhouse filled with floral specimens. Most often, my best work starts with a subject I've found and held in my hands.
I've experimented with a lot of media over the years - watercolour, oils and oil pastels. Occasionally I revisit these, but I must say I have found a happy home with the superb Polychromos pencils. They give me the level of detail and texture that I love to spend time on and they give me the freedom to jump in and start whenever I have a few minutes to spare. Just add a large cup of coffee and I'm good to go. Heaven!
